The Women Who Shape Us

“I was born and raised in West Africa where my parents were missionaries and my father was an agriculturalist. We lived on a 10 acre farm in Niger where my father experimented with water wise farming methods in order to increase farming productivity in the Sahara Desert. Every day at 10 am Indo would ring a bell bringing the staff up from the farm for tea. Sitting in our garden my family would commune with the staff over the tea and baked goods that Indo prepared daily. Those morning communions are some of my sweetest childhood memories. This portrait is in honor of Indo and the important role she has played in my life.”
